Music
for White Cube -
Brian catches the London tube short distances from an art gallery and stands
outside with a DAT recorder and a microphone making voice tones. People
probably studiously ignore him (this is London in 1994 after all). He then
goes home and assembles them into a limited release CD to accompany an art
exhibition at the White Cube Gallery. A January 2003 EBay auction raised
$108.49 for what looked like an original copy of the White Cube CD.
Contra - As well as the above, Brian also plays with SSEYO generative software on a PC and comes up with 50 or so separate and different recordings of the piece that are sold as numbered limited editions at the art gallery.
Music
for Prague
- A bloke wanders into an art gallery and he says to the barman.... no that's
not right... he takes a DAT and sits in a dark room for an hour. Eno pieces
based on SSEYO generative elements and shuffling poly-CD players provide
the aural backdrop. The next day he does it again and the 2 CD boot of the
exhibition is born. There was a January 2003 auction on Ebay for what was
supposed to be an 'original' double CD of the Music For Prague. This did
not raise any bids with an opening bid of $199.
Dali's Car - Brian Eno and the Winkies turn up at the BBC and play. It gets a bit strange then and a record company releases the 'bootleg' and high street record shops sell it.
